Evening guys, theres a thread running over on windows that is nearly at a satisfactory conclusion but it depends on whether this is a cantilevered roof or not, any advice to the OP i'm sure he'd be grateful for

that has got to be a cantilevered roof

its possible a bit of load is being transferred from the ridge down by a post to the joists -but the window cant be supporting the roof, no way.

So he couldn't have gone up and taken x pics of the area to give folk an idea? Surely he could have pointed a camera in the general direction.

My guess is there's a beefy cantilevered joist in each eaves of the gable.
