Is this an acceptable finish?

Hi,
I'm nearing the end of my new kitchen build and I'm not happy with the finish of the job.
Am I expecting too much? It's cost a lot of money and there have been many bumps in the road along the way so I'm just at my wit's end now with the builders.
We owe money until we say we're happy with the job but I'm no plasterer so I don't know if this is just what happens sometimes and how best this is resolved...

Thanks for the replies, is there any way to fix this? The ceiling has all lines in it which I'm assuming are from the joins in the boards they put in? It's like there's too much plaster in these joins and they look like waves.
Would sanding alone help it or does it need to be redone completely?

I would be happy with it if I’d done it myself…but I’m not a plasterer.

I wouldn’t be happy if I’d paid a professional plasterer at current going rates to do it.

The job has been rushed

have a look at some videos on plastering on YouTube, like Alex Morley - see how a pro makes a perfect flat surface look effortless.

I don’t think there is any excuse for it because there are some fantastic tools available these days for flattening, like the OX speed skim.

I would say that the whole lot needs stripping off and someone who knows how to plaster redoes it properly. Good luck with that.

Well we're hoping to sit down with the builder as there's a lot of other issues with the ceiling, not just the plaster, I e. one skylight boxing in is completely skeewiff.
The only issue is this was supposed to be a 12 week job and we're now running into our 7 month so I'm worried they'll just drag out any work we ask them to correct, plus the mess involved with doing the ceiling again after having the kitchen completely fitted is very off-putting

This is definitely wonky right?

Get a quote to put it right then tell the builders that if they can not rectify the issues then you will withhold that amount.
