Is this flush valve the type that unscrews?

Hi all,

Toilet valve keeps letting water into pan. I want to check the washer at the bottom of the valve. Does it look like the valve is the type that unscrews to remove it or is it one that requires the cistern be taken off the pan?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

See if it twists either way as that is generally the way they locate. Don't go mad with it as you will know fairly quickly if it ought to or not and don't overdo it.

Thanks DAZB, it doesn’t seem to want to unscrew and I don’t want to break it in situ. I think I’ll ask a plumber to change the whole unit and I’m sure it’ll be one that unscrews for future access.

After another look at yours it does look remarkably similar to the Optima 50, may be worth a closer look at getting it to undo.
Have one with me so had a look and yours is the same, grip the base if you can and a firm twist anticlockwise should get it off.

Thanks DAZB,

I will try tomorrow as it’s my mum’s WC and I don’t want to break it this evening and leave her in the lurch.

Thanks again.
