Is this ladder damage superficial or sth to worry about?

Apologies if this is a silly question as I've never owned a ladder before.

I have lent my new tripod ladder to a neighbour to help with cutting down a small tree. While I was in another section of the garden I heard a loud bang and upon returning I saw a big scuff mark on one of the legs likely caused by a falling branch.

Is this something to worry about or is it just superficial damage not causing any issues with future use of the ladder?

It's not going to hurt the use of the ladder.
This, is unlikely to have been caused by a branch. More likely, a chainsaw scuff perhaps?

It was more like a small sized section of tree trunk thrown down from 4m high.

I've never known a falling bough to take chunks out of aluminium!
I'd go for the saw explanation too.
The ladder is still OK.
John :)

Yeah not to lend a ladder:)

Actually thinking about it again it is also apparently risky lending a ladder if an injury occurs and it can be connected to a badly maintained one.

As for the ladder I think I will not be lending again but I did not decide to chase it with the neighbor as we are getting along pretty well and this is just a scratch really luckily not affecting the future use.
