Agreed with the loft guys I wanted floor separated from the ceiling, and I also questioned the used of 4x2 when they came as I want the loft as a kind of light use cardio gym, rower, bike etc, not jumping around on a treadmill.
So this is what they’ve done. Cross braced our 3x2 ceiling joists with 4x2. The insulation we already had is not squashed, but there is no real gap between the boarding and our insulation. The 4x2 is at 600mm centres, although I measure 660mm with one 4x2. They have screwed into a floor purlin as the side supports.
What do you reckon? This going to be sufficient?
