Guys, im about to have a rant.....

Right, ive noticed over the recent months, this place is heading towards being a politcal nightmare... Are people actually scared of giving real advice?????

DIY..... Does this mean DO IT YOURSELF?

When people ask question on here, then surely they want advice on an issue, problem, concern, idea.... all of which they want to DO THEM SELFS...

We / They dont want to ring BCO, Council, Trading standards etc.... those routes are easy replies to posts/questons, and I feel these kind of replies are just boosting people post scores, egos etc..... and dont really help.

Id like to bet that the majority are posted by numpties who have nothing else better to do than sit infront of a computer all day.... Get a job for gods sake!!!!... (Iknow theres one or two genuines on here... Calm down)

Thata about it for my Rant today.... but id love to know other peoples thaugths on this, Im sure im not the only one who`s thinking this....

What annoys me is when people ask daft questions that can easily be answered by doing a little research themselves, quite frankly sometimes it'd be far quicker to 'phone BC' than spend 2 days waiting for a forum to answer their stupid question which has probably been answered a hundred times already. Half the numpties who ask dozy questions on here shouldn't be let loose with a screwdriver nevermind anything else.

There are of course those people that dont know about BC.
Some could be just exploring avenues before undertaking jobs.

I dont get caught in the politics on here, most people are more Knowledgable than I.

I tend to give advice from personal experience.

I spend hours a day on gooooogle & am amazed that people dont know how to use it.
But I cant plaster or lay bricks.
So each to his own.

This is common, but about 6/9ths ago there were so many real heated exchanges on here. I did get sucked in once or twice, but knowing people personally does help.
Its like taking to the telephonist, they all sound so dishy.

MasterAbacus can rant all he likes for all anyone should care. A tumble drier discharging into a loft will cause such serious damage, that anyone involved in a conspiracy to ignore or conceal the problem should be charged with criminal negligence.

That really is a numpty approach to diy M A. Carry on ranting. I hope you are visited with a problem of equal magnitude if you choose to have such an attitude to the problem.

well, having read the link and youre post, i think somebody is a numpty and it aint the people giving advice. Still its only a website and if you dont like the answer you can always try speaking to someone in the real world and seeing what answer you get.

People are generally advised of how to sort problems or at least find the cause of said problem if it is something that could be tackled by a DIY'er.

Anything that:

a) legally can't be done by a DIY'er; or
b) would require specialist advice (building control/planning)

is referred to where they can find the information/assistance they require...
