Hi

Is this concrete floor in my photo considered "screed" and can I adhesive directly to this for vinyl tiles (LVT)?

Thanks

If glue down ( dryback ) LVT
No , you need to put a smoothing compound down.

If Click LVT you should be ok. Needs a moisture test in the slab 1st though.

Thanks. It's glue down lvt (polyflor expona). Why do I need a SLC if the glue will stick to the concrete ok (did a test)? Not arguing just trying to learn. Can't afford to raise the height too much either but a 2mm slc should be ok.

Should also mention this is a small approx 3sqm utility and 2 sqm approx wont even be on display, it's under a washing machine and tumble dryer...

You need a super smooth surface to bond to. A cement screed isn’t good enough and imperfections will show through the LVT. Needs to be on 3mm minimum. You need a A2 notch trowel as well to glue it.

How long has the screed been down ?

It's gonna be a very low traffic area, just a utility room, basically 1.5sqm ish in front of a washer & dryer but I'd rather do it properly enough that it lasts. Not worried about imperfections showing through as there is a single down light in this room and no windows.

Screed been down since 1993.

I've ordered a A1 trowel as thats what my adhesive says, but can get an a2 one np. Appreciate the advice, thank you.
