is this showing up on my basement floor a problem?

Hi. I have been noticing the below-pictured white stuff (salt from water?) growing on our basement floor. The below picture is the worst of it. Is this a problem that needs to be dealt with? Theoretically, if the white is showing up does that mean we are getting water in the basement in those areas? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
