Is this sub base OK for gravel?

Thinking of using red granite, as it looks nice and less likely to shift around.

Would 2cm be enough?

Looks good to me - instead of gravel ? because of your sloping drive. I used slate chips on our "drive" 2 concrete runners, slate in the middle. Slopes like yours and it all stays put. You might get some silt run off, but should be fine.

Yeah, I like the look of red granite, and think it will stay put better than rounded gravel.

in my dreams, the end result will be something like this, but red:

I might be able to get someone to take + post a pic. I'm still in the stone age:unsure:
 
How hard, or easy, would it be to put block paving down on this?
Is it "just" a case of dropping down some sand, levelling it, and placing the bricks? Maybe I'll get it done...
