Is there a way to test if a Virgin media socket is live or raither, capable of being live?

I've 3 socket boxes in three rooms, with cables running all over the place between them. If they are usable then I'd like to keep them in but if not and the cables are broken somewhere between, under floorboards etc, then I'll rip them out.

Any ideas, anyone?

If any are connected to the Virgin Media mailbox with an incoming cable from outside the home do not do the following. If all have bare ends/ F-plug connectors then...

Multimeter and test for open circuit then join inner core to outer braid on one end to find the short circuit at the other end. Affix labels to both ends to identify. Undo the join and repeat with another cable... Until all are identified.

Can get more sophisticated and expensive coax signal testers to prove there is no damage (crushed cable can have weird effects at UHF TV frequencies) but a basic DC continuity is a good starting point.
