What accent are we talking bout? Nobody I know in the south has an upper class accent. Guess it depends what you call "South"? Ever been to Pompey? You won't here many plums-in-the-mouth, silver-spoon type accents in Somerstown/Fratton/ Buckland/Landport etc. Same with Southampton, aint many snobs in Thornhill or Harefield. But if by Down South, you mean Windsor or Henley etc, I stand corrected.

The poorest area in the uk is in London right next to the richest so zip it. The largest council estate is in Dagenham so zip it!!!! and as sure as hell we dont have posh accents in Essex (unless you are an import from Surrey etc).
