The cold war is over and the Russians dont have nuclear missiles aimed at us anymore.

The threats are now far more varied.

The obvious nations, ourselves, USA, USSR, China, France.

Then you have the likes of Korea, Pakistan, India, Israel. Then you have to think about the other non nuclear countries that have big connections to these countries.

South Africa did have them but said they disposed of them, who know if they did or not.

There are also the old Soviet Union states that handed them back to the newly formed USSR....but did they ever hand them back or dispose of them? you see the threat is there and that is why we need a deterrent.
