Found in an American newspaper article.

She’s been dating a wonderful man since August. He’s the type who surprises her by raking her leaves while she’s at work. "He’s really sweet," she said. The relationship is going well — but it’s too soon to tell if he’s The One.

What did your partner do to win your heart.....

Is "Raking her leaves" slang for something?

Oh you of devious mind and thoughts.....I accept that American's talk a different language to us but some things are clear...... :(

No. she came home from work and found both front and back lawns had had all the autumn leaves raked up and collected to save her the task

Is leaf raking considered 'womans work' in the US?

Last Xmas one of my presents off OH was a penknife. Needless to say we aren't still together!

Do you live in a rough area? Maybe it was for self defence? That's quite considerate IMO

You're lucky, I never buy my OH anything at christmas. Reason being that I don't believe in it, being as that I am not a christian.

She offered me a drag on her pipe

I hope you returned the favour. ;) ;) ;)
Married her, she's the good looking one in the middle.

I met one of mine when I was sent to Germany on business.

Our eyes met across a crowded conference room.

She said later it was like a cat walking into a room, it immediately knows if there is a mouse in there.

She wouldn't say, though which of us was the cat, and which the mouse.
