Please help in short i connected my phone apple 5 to itunes to download music to my phone then i had a upgrade icon appear, i downloaded it now my phone has a itunes icon and a lead on the phone display and wont go away. i have my pictures and other stuff on my phone which i dont want to loose how do i get the phone working again.

You should be able to connect the phone to the computer and read it like an external hard drive, to get your data.
You may need to look up third party programmes that will do this, apple tend to be ******* in locking stuff down to prevent you doing this.
The phone itself likely needs a factory reset (google it, will wipe data).
In future make sure any pictures or stuff are backed up, you can get apps that do this automatically to the cloud.
