What are your views on using junction boxes? A lot of electricians frown upon them but they will stuff connector blocks up into a ceiling. Any thoughts?

use them, but not often. and only ever use them if they are accessable and where they can be expected to be (i.e directly above a light or somewhere similar
anyone who stuffs connector blocks into the ceiling without putting them in an enclosure fitst really doesn't deserve to be called an electrician.
JBs have thier place but they are really supposed to be accessible for inspection, just how acessible that means they need to be is somewhat open to interpretation.
Interestingly enough, had a man (NICEIC, logoe'd van the lot) put a new light in the bathroom (noted part P, controlled location etc), and he connected the new fitting to the "loom" via a big bit of chock block, "mummified" the whole thing in tape and poked it up into the ceiling.
Muggins here thought this a little suspect, but was told, "Yeah, it'll be right", and was shown the de-structructions from the light, which recommended it too.
I have a piece of paper with NICEIC logos etc on, (EIC), but even with the paperwork, is this method good practice (like I didn't think it was)?
Is my EIC like Neville Chamberlain's piece of paper: worthless, meaningless and too hard even to wipe your nose on ?
Well, the original statement (commonly heard in my own line of work) is that some written material is "worthless, meaningless and printed on paper too hard even to wipe your nose (or ar**, depending on the company you're in) on". Does my EIC fall into this category?
