Partygate: Police reopen investigation into Tory 'jingle and mingle' event

The Metropolitan Police is reopening an investigation into breaches of Covid regulations at a Christmas party at Conservative Party HQ.
A video of the gathering, where aides were invited to "jingle and mingle", was published by the Sunday Mirror.
Police say they will not investigate alleged gatherings at the prime minister's country home, Chequers, when Boris Johnson was PM.
But they are also now investigating an event in Parliament on 8 December 2020.
According to the Guido Fawkes website, this event involved Conservative backbencher Sir Bernard Jenkin.
Sir Bernard sits on the Commons Privileges Committee, which last month published a highly critical report about Mr Johnson.
He told the BBC it was not appropriate to comment on an ongoing investigation.
Mr Johnson - who stood down as an MP with a stinging attack on the committee - had accused Sir Bernard of "monstrous hypocrisy" if the allegations on the Guido Fawkes site are true.
Conservative MP Virginia Crosbie issued an apology for attending the event while Covid restrictions were in place.
The Ynys Mon MP confirmed the event took place but said she had not sent out any invitations.

Yes, indeed. Please explain to me how many of your £££'s we should refund to those who waived to their elderly relatives through the windows of old folks homes . . . . . ?

It's not about the money though.

The money issue is how a few people got rich (or richer) because of the covid ppe, but that isn't being investigated.

im on about the enquiries into the parties not anything else lets be honest how many of you stuck exactly to the rules, no doubt all the usual suspects in here will say they completely adhered to them

I have a feeling that virtually no-one stuck to the rules exactly as stated...

I certainly didn't...

Because the fact is that most were unnecessary/irrelevant...

But that is neither here nor there...

The problem comes when those who made up those arbitrary rules didn't practice what they preached...

Why were they so unconcerned about ignoring those rules is the question that should be being asked!

Just ignore them then? Is that what you mean? Don't hold them to any standards?

Would that apply to just 1 political party?

yep and no labour had its indiscretions as well and prob the SNP or we could carry on wasting tens of millions adding to the billions covid has already cost

Wasted? Or esssential to bring justice to bear?

Very little cost in the scale of things.

Just you wait til video evidence of Michael Gove's 'Coke n' Toke' shindig sees the light of day: it's....disturbing.:cautious:
