So they are a race? What constitutes a race? Are all gypsies Romanys? What about the Irish caravan dwellers - are they gypsies?

Of course they are a race. Are Eskimo's a race? Indians (North and South America)?
And of course they intermix with other races (made slaves, kept slaves, neighbouring races, go back far enough in time and you will find every race has - had intermixing period). Some pronounced race characteristics will prevail, but in the ned we will look all a like.
