we have a u shape kitchen and or carpenter is about to do the worktop. It's a u sharpe kitchen and the long side is 4.45 meteres he says as we have 3m worktops it won't look good as their will be a extra joins. What are people's thoughts on this? Should I really go out my way to source from another supplier?

Yes. Especially if the carpenter is as good as your plasterer, plumber, and tiler. :cautious:

... or the bricklayer, electrician, ...

I recently fitted our own kitchen and have seen worktops in 4m length, but didn't come across anything longer than that.

You wont' need 4.45m length though, you'll need 4.45m-.6 (+ the joint) or 4.45m- 2x(.6 (+ the joint)) as long as your other sides are less than 4m (or 3m which you already have)

Ah, of course, it's a U, which needs joints in any case.
