Hi. I have 2, 4 metre lengths of 9"x3" which I got from the roof of an old house im working on. Nice condition timber which I want to turn into a 18"x3" low level shelf. What would be the best way of joining these 2 pieces together side by side? Bearing in mind its unplanned and quite rough (which is what she wants, don't ask!) so glue/chemical fix perhaps not an option. Im thinking along the lines of the joining bars that are used to join together kitchen work tops but i dont know if that would work. Im a tiler/plumber so reasonably handy with a drill, saw etc etc. Appreciate any help. Thank you.

you might just get away with glueing them together with gorrilla glue, you will need clamps though.

or these if you don't need so many, I would also plane or skill saw the joint and glue as well though.
