Hi Guys,
I have a length of 6mm cable from a 32a mcb in consumer which i want to take to an outside switch which will then power the electrics to my garage via swa. The problem is that my 6mm cable is about 3 foot to short for what i need to do so what would be the best way to extend this cable? Could i crimp it to a new piece of 6mm or would it be best to use a 40a jb?

Ideal solution - new run of cable.

Junction box is fine, but needs to be accessable.

Through crimping as you have just described needs a yellow crimp, applied properly, with proper crimping tool and then protected with heat shrink sleeve, or AT THE VERY LEAST, self amalgamating tape.

Where is the joint going to be?

Thanks spark 123. the joint will be on the inside of the outside wall and i was hoping to bury it in the wall so i guess a jb is out of the question

Thanks clicksure but a new piece of cable is not an option as it runs from the front of the house to the back. I do have ratchet crimpers but only have blue and red crimps and i think my crimpers would only accept 1mm, 2.5mm and 4mm ?
