You may as well just mortice a loose tenon in on the underside.I currently use a Domino (yes, I know @^woody^ it's really just an over complicated, over priced dowelling machine, but the shape resists twisting) but I have started to investigate HiPUR (a form of polyurethane adhesive which is stronger than wood)
Scarf joint - helps hide the joint and gives you a greater glueing area than a butt joint.I’ve seen some handles cut at 45 degrees and joined. Why is this done? I’ve done it to skirting board.
