Hi All
I am looking at lowering my loft floor and need to fix a joist hanger for a new beam (2x47x220mm bolted) my problem is I cannot retrofit a slot in hanger as i only have 100mm above the hanger, nor can i cut the blocks and sit on top as there is a joist directly above it, leaving the option of a wall plate but for only 1 joist or resin fix the surface hanger to the 6N blocks can anyone help with the fixing specification shear stress etc. that building control may require, Simpson's show it on a picture but provide no spec , apparently after talking to there tec line it was available in the 2015 catalogue but not any more.
any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Why are you lowering the ceilings anyway, is this part of a proper loft conversion? Is Building Control actually involved? The Expamet says 12mm bolts, I can't see BC getting to fussy about what bolts, just something off the shelf from Screwfix will do, with 6 x 12mm resin or stud anchors it's not going anywhere. Otherwise if this is a proper loft conversion surely you have an SE on board who could advise?

BTW the Simpsons one is on their current website and seemingly available to purchase online: https://www.tcfixings.co.uk/pdf/Simpson_SAE_Technical_Data.pdf

Just to give extra head room, just needed to know if there is a recommended depth to drill for resin fixings
Thanks again

OP,
What are you trying to achieve by doing the above - and by doing it that way?
If your purpose is a loft conversion then maybe give a SE a call before doing anything else?
