I want to remove a chimney breast in the dining room as it will give loads more space.
The fake chimney has now gone and the cupboard on the left side is where an old boiler sat.
When you look in this cupboard you can see the joists running into the party wall and through the breast. So i don't think this breast is taking any load on the left side. On the right side i have the flue which is single stack and runs up through the bathroom and out to the roof. I intend to remove all this and support the small flue in the loft with gallow brackets.
I think i may have an issue with the fact the joists have been cut in the bathroom to taking some pipes. The cuts have been made in the danger area (right next to the joist entering the wall).
Do you think i may weaken these joists if i remove the breast because they have been weakened by the cutting. The span is approx 4.5m.
