Hi,
I am replacing pull switches in my converted loft. It has 2 lights 1 at each end and each is controlled with its own old pull switch.
Doing it for a couple of reason firstly they have been positioned half way up the ceiling so are right at eye level and obviously on an angle. They are also both near the centre of room so you can't turn on as you enter

I am changing to some down lights and ideally just 1 switch moved near stairs in.

Both switches have 2 cables in but only the 2 reds wired in the black and earth's are just folded back but lights have both red n black wired in

How / which one can I remove and then just have 1 switch for the down lights ? It's the just 2 reds that has me questioning myself as I've replaced all other lights switches and sockets throughout no issue
Note, The live had come out of light 2 as I took the rose off as must of been loose rewired after taking pic

Thanks in advance

You need to find the junction box /s where the wiring originates from and re wire from there ,stripping out the cables to one of the light fittings and it's switch, and extend as required .

Exactly. There‘s got to be a junction box somewhere. I‘d be tempted to rewire the whole lot because it looks suspiciously like a DIY bodge job.

100% a diy job I may have found it there is a junction box which looks like it's feeding these and the bathroom lights below it's spaghetti junction of wires in the voids/eaves would I just run a 1.5m t&e from it to the new switch and switch to 1st downlight

Cheers

A picture of the junction box wiring would be useful.
You would need to establish the circuits permanent live ,neutral and earth. Do you have any electrical test instruments?
