Hi all
Just came across diynot.com and have been stuck to my laptop for the last 4 hours reading posts, threads, disasters, tips etc etc. Found it both informative, funny and entertaining.
I hope I can contribute to the already lots of tips and hints, and disasters that are here. My project at the moment is I have an 1800 Victorian house which I have owned for the last 7 years, stayed in it for 2 before moving out and believe it or not used it for storage purposes, bad mistake. So with the credit crunch and all I have found myself having to move back in.
Work involved is imence, water ingress, holes in ceilings, plasterwork, you name it its needing done to a certain degree. Would love to have posted photos of the before and after but never thought of taking them
Have been working constantly for the last eight weeks, thats just me and the missus, bearing in mind that the overall size of the house is 8500 sq ft on four levels. We have started at the top of the building, which consists of a self contained 3 bed flat, all that is left for me to complete there is the fitting of the new carpets, when budget allows. Jobs completed so far in the flat are two ceilings removed, due to water damage, plasterboard fitted, plastered and painted, doors needing re-alinged, woodchip removed from all walls. Lounge, toilet, and kitchen repapered, all woodwork undercoated and glossed.
Thankfully there are no period features in the flat, wish I could say the same for the 3 floor. Anyway have rambled on long enough, I can get somes pics taken and keep you updated.
Make sure the ladders are secure
Alex
