Just Like Mary Whitehouse and Lord Longford Really

If someone posts a question and it offends you by it's simplicity, all you need to do is ignore it. ( You know who I mean don't you?)

It's just like Mary Whitehouse and Lord Longford in the seventies really, always complaining about the amount of porn on TV. If only someone had shown them where the off button was!

Oh, by the way BAS, here's a link for you, this should improve your life and increase your personal fulfilment.

I bet your're sat at your PC now wearing hard hat, boots, viz vest, goggles, and don't forget the gloves. Remember "there's a glove for every job "

I can't help wanting to point out to the readers of this forum the bizarre dichotomy between you caring so little for what I have to say that you put me on your ignore list and caring so much about what I should think and do that you start up a dedicated topic just to tell me what I should think and do.

And as for the "simplicity" of questions, I wonder how many people here recall someone else recently getting bent out of shape because he flatly refused to accept that although he might have thought his questions were simple the answers were not and could not be?

Oh - and on the off-chance that you can't resist having a peek to see what I wrote, it was not I who gave your post a thumbs down, so there's at least one other person on this site who doesn't see it your way.

Oh, so you recognised yourself.

I had to start up a dedicated topic, because brave man that you are, you posted a comment on my profile, but blocked me from your own.

No - I didn't "recognise" myself, but I did realise you must have been talking about me because I'm the one who recently tried to tell you that the work you were doing had more complexities than you realised and required you to know more than you do, and you'd once before made the suggestion that I should ignore your questions rather than give you answers which you didn't want to hear.

And you still don't get the fact that it is not your questions which are the problem here - it's you saying that it is unacceptable for people to direct you at information which they, from a position of genuinely knowing more than you, believe you should read in order to increase your competence.

It's not compulsory to do DIY electrical work - it's perfectly OK to know nothing and do nothing. But if you want to do, you have to know. The laws of physics, the risks of electric shock and fires etc do not magically get suspended just because you are a DIYer and not a professional, and people who live in your house after you will not magically be immune from any problems you create just because it was your house and not theirs when you worked in it.

Specialist inspectors play a critical role in HSE’s front line activities. As such you will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills in influencing and persuading.
