In another post regarding my radiators always being hot, even though the thermostat turned them off.

Its turned out that BG had fitted the wrong 3 way valve.

Thats now been changed and when the thermostat clicks off the radiators go cool very quickly.

The only problem is that that when the thermostat clicks off the pump still pumps.

And its seems as though it pumping cold water and cools tha radiators to soon.

The radiators are going from HOT to COLD every 10 mins there is no in-between.

I don't think this is right because you can hear the pipes creaking althrough the house every ten minuites.

Any Ideas anyone.

Thanks in advance

Ron

Mmmmmmmmm How many three port valves are there?????????
I thought they all done the same job.

Call the plumber back if your not happy

You are correct I think they all do the same job.

Its just that the wiring was different and this was what caused the first vave not to work properly.

Yes I will get the plumber back. the reason I posted was, are the symptoms I describe normal or should the radiators just cool down a bit then heat up when the thermostat kicks in.

Mine seem to go from VERY HOT to almost cold in about 15 min cycles.

Its as though the central heatings starting from cold every time the stat comes in thats why I can hear all the pipes creaking.

Thanks

Ron

The pump is probably continuing to run because of a pump overrun setup on the boiler, this should only last 5 minutes or so though.

Thanks for that.

So far as I can tell (and I can hear the pump)
The pump runs all the time.

I except that when the heating first come on the pipes expand etc and it is noisy.
What is bugging me is the fact that the when heating cools down the whole warming up process starts every time the thermostat kicks in.

And you might think why am I asking such basic questions?

Its because I haven't the heating system working for the last two years and I don't know what to expect.

Thanks

Ron

cold water cannot get into the system on a y plan system it can only cool the hot water in the pipework unless for some reason the hot water is pumping over through the vent back into the f&e tank.

The pump should not run all the time with the boiler off that is the root of your problem and sounds like a wiring fault. Check your M.I's to see if your boiler has a pump overrun.
