Hi

I've bought a 600mm high 800mm width double convector double rad for the bathroom as the old one was quite rust.

It was £50 delivered, so not expensive.

Fitting the various fittings this evening (the bleed screw bolt, etc) I notice there are quite a few unpainted areas (eg around the hole where the lower pipes screw in) and also the corners at the back some are flaking.

Is this acceptable for a new rad? I have treated it with kid gloves since it came out of the (excellent btw) packaging.

I'm wondering if this is normal - and im being too fussy?

Thanks

Sounds about right for some of them.

Just lately I've been let down by two radiators leaking
from brand new (well known branded names).
I thought they are supposed to be pressure
test before they leave the factory. But these weren't
even close to being any good the water was pouring out.

i had removed the side panels and the top panel and stored them (on bed in spare room) and hadnt really looked at them - just fitted them and the one was bent slightly with paint flaking off - looks like the rad had been dropped or something and this corner took the brunt.

Have emailed plumbworld, they've been great so far.

Only problem is i've had it a week and they could easily say i caused the damage - thats my concern.

K-Rads are a good value rads, we've fitted 100s with not a problem, they're well packed & rarely do we have finish issues.

Hmm.. wondering if i've got a duffer then. It was certainly well packed.

Here are the marks on the left hand side side panel. I've gone ahead and fitted (not fully plumbed yet so dont know if any leaks) it so cant show the corner flaking.

EDIT; tbh this is probably just a stop gap (couple of years max) until we do the bathroom properly. We have a new arrival coming in next month or so and I wanted the bathroom nice and toasty. Also as the old rad was very rusty i was worried it was going to leak.

Congratulations mate, that's lovely. I hope everything goes well & you'are prepared to lose some sleep.........

Funny kids, you spend the first couple of years encouraging them to talk & walk...............And the next twenty odd years telling them to sit down & shut up!!!...........Just kidding mate, kids are a blessing.

I'd just get some touch up paint for your radiator......Job done!

Thanks mate!! Its number two so i kind of know what we're letting ourselves in for, though its going to be a whole different game having a 2 year old running around plus trying to keep the little un happy. Also I work from home so thats an extra dimension - i'll be asking about sound proofing for internal doors and walls next :)

Yeah I think touch up paint is probably easiest all round - I probably am being a bit picky i guess.

Cheers!!
