Right, so from searching I can see that the Karndean on chipboard question has been done to death and the recurring theme is - 'it's not recommended as the glue can react with or not bond properly to the chipboard and fail. Professionals will always insist on overboarding with ply but if you're a DIYer crack on, lack of warranty is up to you'. That's fine; It's only 1.5m x 1.7m so if I pick up a cheap pack of Karndean off FB marketplace and the glue does fail at some point it's not the end of the world.
However, in my bathroom I've got freshly laid (clean, smooth and undamaged) Egger Protect flooring which is chipboard BUT with some sort of non-porous bonded textured layer on the surface.
Anyone got any experience of this?
