Kenmore 70 Series Heavy Duty Plus Washer

Hi:

When I put my washer on the regular wash cycle it fills up to the proper level and then it drains the water out instead of agitating. What could this be? By the way, it does the same thing on the permanent press cycle but works fine on the gentle cycle and the presoak/prewash cycle.
