My washer will not spin on it's own unless the load is very small and light. It will spin as long as we start it by hand. If the load is towels and to heavy it will not spin at all. I need to know what to look for, I have no manual to work from. Thanks

from reading this forum i would suggest motor brushes

not on a kenmore, its a toploader, induction motor. (probably)

(but in case i am wrong, i say nothing more except, read this )

, there is a link somewhere for american washers, i read a post (english washer though) with your symptoms and starting method, i don,t know what an induction motor is is it the one that has like a "starter ?" if so that was my mothers problem (i think!) anyway i changed that (melted/expanded) and it's now working
