hey all, i have a Kenmore dryer model 66722690. I have done a lot of look-see's and meter reading on this dryer but still can't find a solution. Everytime i turn it on i have to re-set the breaker, then it runs. (the breaker tests good)
last night i tried drying clothes and set the dryer on the 60 minute timer. the heating element heated up fine for about 20 minutes, then cool air another 20 minutes. my clothes got mostly dry.
Next i put a load in and set the Perma-press timer. No heat whatsoever. i gave up and hung up the clothes--still wet.
like i say, i have taken the back off, cleared out and cleaned up what i needed. paid careful attention to any wires touching or burnt places.
WHAT I DID FIND.... is on the main timer, there is a orange wire coming
coming off it going into a large square resistor, (part of it is soldered onto the resistor) same for the other end where the orange wire continues on.
NOW-- the clear plastic coating on this resistor is burnt, but all the wires remain in place. could this be the smoking gun? a bad resistor?
remember, it BLOWS my circuit breaker everytime....thx for your help--jw
