Kenmore Elite washing machine won't progress to rinse cycle

I have a Kenmore Elite model # 110.23032101

It will go through complete first cycle then it stops before the rinse cycle. When problems first started a few days ago it would fill for rinse cycle but go no further, (water would enter but not fill/overfill) but now it won't even fill at rinse cycle. If I manually move dial it still will not start the rinse cycle.

Any ideas?

Maybe you are rinsing on cold water temperature and the cold side of the water valve is plugged up with sediment. If this is your problem, you can turn off the cold water supply and remove the hose end at the water valve side and clean out the filter screen thats caked up.

I would have never thought that because we wash and rinse all our clothes in cold, and the cold water runs for the wash.
