Hi All

I have a mirror I want to hang nice and flush on the wall, and want to use the type of fittings which attach to the back of the mirror and have a raised keyhole type slot to go over the head of a screw in the wall, like the ones on the link below:

http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?p...filter=keyhole

However I'm struggling to find anywhere in the uk that sells them, is there a particular name for this type of bracket I should be searching for? Or can anyone point me in the right direction? Or can anyone suggest alterntive similar fixings that will let me mount the mirror as flush with the wall as possible withouth any of the mount showing?

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks for the link but it's not quite the right thing, generally those fit to the mirror/picture and the slotted piece sticks out the side/top and goes over a screw but is visible when the mirror or whatever is hung on the wall, I want something where the whole fixing is hidden when the mirror is hung.

I think the type you want will only work by bonding something to the back of the mirror, in which case you may as well just glue it to the wall, it won't be removable but at least you will have a good load of adhesive, small fixings will require very little adhesive and thus be more prone to falling off, brave if it is of any size! The fischer mirror fixings are fairly subtle but are at least safe. In gyms etc where mirrors are full height/large the mirrors are bonded to the wall.

The ones I've linked to screw onto the back on the mirror (or on to the wooden frame for example) so would be fine to use if I could just find them!

Whilst that does look quite good, it's rather pricey! in fact with postage it'll cost more than the mirror!

The link that I provided are the keyhole type you are looking for. You need to fit them on the rear on the mirror and cut where the screw head goes in, which are normally pan head screws fitted to the wall.

If I can avoid having to cut into the wood of the mirror I'd really reathe do so, but it looks like I might well have to go for that type of fixing as I can't find anything like the ones I linked to originally anywhere.

if you mirror has a strong frame that will support the weight off the mirror
just drill 1 or 2 holes in the back with 8/9/10mm twist or wood drill bit at un upward angle off about 35-45% about 12-20mm deep [depth according to thickness]

use the drill bit 1mm bigger than the screw head

once you have the screws in the wall hang the mirror and push the top off the frame above the screws this will crush the wood at the top slightly you can then with a craft knife or chisel cut a 5mm /\ you will now have a built in mirror fixing

the reason for hanging first it to mark exactly where the shaft is in relation to the hole
