I'm about to put a coat of multifinish in the bathroom prior to tiling. I'm presuming I should avoid excessively polishing so that the tile grout adheres better. Should I do anything to the finished surface other than priming?

Also, at what point can I apply the multifinish? I've just applied a coat of bonding (about 2 hours ago) which is firm but still a little tacky. If I don't skim tonight then it'll be another week or so before I get the chance by which time the bonding will be pretty much dry. If the undercoat does dry out should I coat in PVA first?

Many thanks.

It shouldn't matter what finish your get on your plaster - tiles, and tile adhesive stick very well to existing tiles and I'll bet your plastering isn't as smooth as the face on a tile.

Thanks for that gcol.

I'm now ready to put the skim coat on but have left the undercoat to almost dry. Is it ok just to put the finishing plaster straight on and will it bond ok. I could put a coat of pva on but am concerned that I would lock in the remaining moisture in the undercoat.

DONt use PVa as a bond for tiling .. as most Bal powder mix for tile say NO an if walls are like this a rub down best used ...

just leave it very course /rough like most skimmers do <that was a joke .. ;) ;) :)

It wouldn't hurt to pva it.
