Saw this on BBC news and laughed so much I nearly wet myself

A teenager is receiving specialist hospital treatment for burns following an incident at a Scottish Power sub-station in Midlothian.
Rescuers found the 14-year-old hanging upside down from a piece of equipment six metres above the ground.

It is believed he climbed a 12ft security fence and jumped directly on top of a 33,000-volt transformer.

So let me get this straight - a 14 year old (old enough to know better) deliberatley climbed over a 12 ft spiked fence and jumped onto a transformer... One for the darwin awards if ever I heard one. What makes it so comedy is that the utility company issued a statement saying "our thoughts are with the boy and his family" - how about their thoughts being with the 5000 poor souls who lost power while the emergency services rescued said moron. Bill his parents for the rescue and power outage costs  Or even better just post some pictures of him hanging there because (to quote the report) "He was thrown by the force of an electric shock he received and his trousers caught on nearby equipment".

We're all doomed

I wonder if any medical equipment was affected by the outage? I know they have back-up power but that isn't 100% effective.

And what about traffic lights? If they are powered off the grid then accidents may have occurred.

And what about food going off in powered-down fridges? The elderly and infirm can be stricken by life-threatening food poisoning all too easily.

It could well be that this idiot has caused several deaths by doing this.

I hope the kid survives, but I also hope the current fried his nads and prevents him from passing on his "genius" DNA.

traffic lights are fed from the same cables supplyin houses etc, so they would go off.

Sometimes you just can't help thinking, "the needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the one". Rather than risk the lives of all those innocent people, they should have left him to fry. ;)

Not too long ago I was driving in the centre of Manchester in the middle of the day. I stopped at a set of lights the next thing my passenger door opened and a young girl of about 15 got into my car......she was very drunk and had mistaken my car for a taxi!

I tried to talk to her but it was impossible really.......anyway to cut a long story short I ended up taking her home (which wasn't too far from where I was going anyway) because I was sure that if I put her out of my car because she was so drunk she would have just ended up doing the same thing again.......and god knows what may have happened to her.

I would have thought that at 15 she should have known better than to put herself in such a vulnerable situation..........but she really didn't know what she was doing because of the alcohol.

Hmm, a difficult one as she might or could give you some aggro but what if she has a knife on her

I do understand what you mean but I did assess the situation before deciding on what to do - it's difficult for me to put over the state she was in - I'd never seen anyone (even an adult) so bad.
Don't think she could have held a knife let alone used one.

At the end of the day she was someones child - I feel I did the right thing at the time - if the same thing happened again I'd probably decide on a different course of action........maybe! :)

But I really do think that at her age she should have known better than to get so blind drunk she didn't know she was getting into someones car
We are not going to stop young people drinking (I did it myself) but it's the amount they consume these days that is the worrying issue!

Very true, a friend of mine work at the A&E and it's mostly 11 years old onward who are so drunk that they have to be kept in hospital for at least 24 hrs, can't see the 24hr pub opening going to improve it either

Its not the pubs supplying booze to these idiots though, its dodgy independant off licences selling to adults who are buying for kids loitering outside.

Of course, someone might have slipped something in her drink... doesn't rohypnol give the appearance of being incredibly drunk?

Yes it does, but not all young people are being 'slipped' rohypnol! :)
Unfortunately many young people are deliberately going out to get off their heads on drink.

It's like Masona said about young people ending up in A&E departments and ending up being hospitalised due to drink - this is becoming an everyday occurance these days.

When I did my training I can honestly say I didn't see any young people brought into A&E or the wards due to alcohol consumption - how times change.

where abouts was this ...that this lil vixen jumped in your car drunk ,

*moz pulls on driving gloves an puts handcuffs an ball gag into the car ,puts on false no plate *

only joking , LOL ..............................I dont think I need the hancuffs if she's that drunk

Nah, the guy is obviously extremely clever. The GCSE results prove that there has been a massive increase in intellect amongst our young for nearly 20 years. Personally I'm in awe of today's prodigies.
