I cut through the heavy roots from the neighbours cherry tree that were pushing one of my fence posts over ( still plenty her side and deeper to keep the tree in place and alive ).

there were 2 roots of about 40-50mm diameter and they were close to the surface.
I cut them back to the edge of the lawn about 4 inches down.

there are now some shoots growing through the lawn from these roots..
what's best to get rid of them without killing the lawn..
is it a "dig it up and see" job.? take off the top layer of turf and dig out as much as I can get at?

When the shoots are in leaf get some roundup in a tub and dab it on the leaves with a sponge, you might have one more lot of
shoots come up later to treat but it will kill the root and save you digging up your lawn.
