Hi All

You were absolutely brill when I had tonnes of Qs regarding CH, I thought I would come back again for some fab advice.

K, we are having a new roof put onto 100yr back-2-back terrace with insulation inserted between the joists and under the felt and tiles. The quote I was given and signed for was to use Kingspan. However the Roofer is putting up Celotex insulation.

On closer inspection of the insulation, I was unable to work which one it is, other than its Celotex and 50mm thick.

So the Q is, what is your opinion of Celotex compared with Kingspan? Am I getting a raw deal? The same guarantees? Or Celotex is more accessible to buy in the North, compared with Kingspan?

Thanks for your help once again.

Marie

PS Do new roofs generally come with a warranty / gurantee of workmanshop, materials etc?

Assuming that the original spec was for TP10 and not K7 (which is a phenolic foam rather than a PUR/PIR foam) There is absolutley no difference between the two products in price or performance as they are made of the same material to the same density.

The only difference is the sequence of insulation that the manufacturers seem to prefer, Kingspan show insulation between the rafters then another layer over whereas Celotex prefer one layer over the rafters and the second layer between the counter-battens.

Usually you should get a workmanship guarantee on completion and assuming you are using new materials not second hand the manufacturers guarantee will apply too. You can get an insurance backed guarantee but of course this will cost extra unless included for in the costs
