Hi,

Part of the Kitchen needs an internal corner, I know enough that I need a spacer piece to bring the drawer fronts clear of the adjacent drawers, but do not know the best search term to track down suitable filler pieces.
Does any one know a good source or term to use when looking?

Thanks.

Presumably you mean a corner post or corner piece - they come as custom to the units or you make the corner up yourself. There's probably lots of youtube vids dealing with the issue?

I know I need a size that allows for thickness on the door plus height of handle to allow clearance, just havent noticed many places that sell them.

do you know the make and style of the kitchen?

post a photo, someone may recognise it.

you could perhaps make up a matching L-shape with a bit of matching plinth or decor panel.

It is IKEA METOD units I am fitting, they dont seem to provide many options for corner fillers. I will have a corner where two units will have drawers at 90 degrees to each other. I am expecting approximately 60-70mm of offset due to the 22mm of door + 1mm of "not quite closing" drawer front, plus 35 or so for the handles + another 5mm or so for things not always pulling out parallel.

That corner post is almost perfect, except it is too short for the Metod units (800mm)
This one is about right:

How come the item wasn't supplied with the kitchen? Can you go back to the supplier?

Anyhow, you have options: source an end panel in the same material etc - and after dry fitting the units in their final positions, well clear for drawers & handles etc, then you rip the panel to suit.
Another thing is: are you installing a straight unit & a corner unit or two straight units?

I'm presuming you can fit a kitchen so I'll leave it there.

It is a DIY job using IKEA stuff, as that gave the best fit to the available space for the units. We also tried to make Howdens etc units work, but the available sizes did not give a snug fit.
It is a "breakfast Bar" poking out from the wall in a run. It does not need a corner unit as we have a full depth unit edging the wall and back to back wall units for the protruding part.

I know that IKEA cabinets are taller inside than the "standard" 720mm high cabinets used by most other manufacturers, but I'm surprised that there isn't someone out there making L-section in longer lengths (I used to be able to get the stuff, albeit painted, in 2.5 metre lengths from one component manufacturer), but if you can't get what you need off the shelf why noy make-up your own by screwing two rips of plinth together in an L-shape?

only needs to be cut down. I am not a working carpenter and a jig-saw would leave a noticable gap in the middle, at least in my hands it would!

Surprising , kitchen suppliers have units in 50mm increments from 150mm-600mm as standard, far more choice than Ikea.

Sorry, link not working. Is it this stuff? Going back 15 years that's the sort of stuff I used to buy in 2.5 metre lengths - the only difference was that my supplier ran softwood through a 4-sider to make theirs then sprayed it white or undercoated it (any other colour required - spray it yourself). The B&Q variant is probably MDF, foil wrapped, but essentially the same stuff. Sharp saw and a mitre box or a circular saw and a speed square would do the job of trimming to length - but the mitre saw most people use on a kitchen fit would be a better choice

Even then resizing a cabinet from, say 400mm to 372mm wide is only a matter of 3 saw cuts and some (to be hidden) carcass screws. The biggest issue is generally finding doors - off the shelf doors are naturally easier to work with, whilst bespokes come in a more linited range of styles and colours unless you are making your own. Having a supplier like HPP (for those in Manchester or Sheffield areas) who can do vinyl wraps in bespoke sizes is a bonus - providing you don't mind the lead times

I thought standards were 150 - 300 - 400 - 450 - 500 - 600 - 800 - 1000 - 1200mm, so not quite 50mm increments

Many do 200-250-350-550wide units.
The more size variety available the more units they can sell .

If the draw fronts have handles, how are you going to clear them? There is a reason why drawer units are not normally next to each other at right angles.
