Kitchen/Cooker ext Vent and proximity... any regs?

Hi,

We had a new kitchen installed in Nov. The kitchen fitter vented the cooker on an external wall that at the time faced onto a building site with a partially constructed house on it.

Since then the builder have effectively raised the ground level on their side by a foot. Now the external vent is about head high into the path that services the back door of the new house.

Our kitchen wall effectively acts as the boundry between the 2 houses and the back wall of the new house is about 1m from the vent across the path.

The new owners have moved in and are not too impressed with the vent ... so

1: Does it counter any regs as it stands?
2: Any ideas for a solution, short of taking my kitchen roof out and re-routing it 4m.

Regs only cover the fact you require forced ventalation. Positioning is down to not causing a nuisance. Since your neighbour built after your installation you have the upper hand.
If they demand action ask them to pay for the action.
A call to your local building control may prove useful to get their view.
Alot of issues like this are being caused by condensing boiler flues which plume and each council has a different attitude to the nuisance caused.
