Kitchen costs on average

Just looking for a general approx price what someone pays for a kitchen these days ?
Mine is as follows I have a standard 3bed semis kitchen with a extension into that which equates to pretty much the same area, the kitchen need a total and I mean a total renovation, new floor new ceiling and all appliances.
I would do the electrical side myself as I’m a spark and tear down the old ceilings apart from that I would need a contractor to do the rest.
I have heard some nightmare story’s about Wren kitchens maybe people could comment on them and tell me how they play things ?

A month or two ago, I had a quote for my new kitchen... £7500 from howdens, for units, no worktops/appliances.

Went to DIY kitchens, and it's weighed in a £3900. (solid wood doors).

I've sourced my own worktops (wood) and appliances I've been buying through the year.

I've not had dealings with Wren, but funnily enough a neighbour was discussing them... and said never again. (she thought the kitchen was OK, but the fitters not).
Was repeating this to another friend, and he didn't like the fitters or the quality.

I would guess you could buy the cabinets for you sketch for around £2500 from DIY, what have howdens quoted out of interest?

I have heard bad things from Wren. I can't speak for the quality of their products, but what i do know is that it will be only has good as it is fitted.

Wren sub contract their kitchen fitters and allocate them upon payment. My friend got allocated a fitter who's email address was unprofessional and immature. It say's a lot about a service, especially when you pay for a premium like Wren.

Ultimately, i think its roulette depending on what fitter you get allocated.

If this is a quick kitchen and you are moving out in a couple years 7-8k may do it. If you intend on living here for a long time and want a nice kitchen it will be north of 10k

Slightly OT but in our naivety years ago mum and I opted to go with British Gas to install a new central heating system (it was completely new, house was all electric previous to.) We assumed we'd get British Gas engineers, so imagine our surprise when a nearing 60 year old one man band type heating engineer rocked up in his 15 year old van! I remember him saying 'I'm getting too old for this! My son normally works with me but he's away on holiday.'

Obviously no reason why a sub-contractor can't do just as good or better a job than directly employed. The install wasn't bad overall.

Yes, I am a kitchen fitter, retired now.
You're including appliances...
I have seen a fridge going for almost £2k, no wonder.
Let's make it a bit clearer: howdens cabinets, slab doors, laminated worktops, stainless sink, £150 tap, plumbing, plastering, tiling and trims.
Appliances are usually bought by the customer, unless you want to become the retailer and be forced to offer returns and warranties on them.

Like I said 10k-20k is the price for a half decent kitchen you intend on keeping.

Yup wren are a knightmare at the moment. Seen five of their jobs all crap loads of problems. Good things from DIY kitchens. Fitters love them as do customers.
We fit benchmark in the council houses. Grey wood effect inexpensive but nice.
Got a scrieber kitchen in the house we moving into next week.
