Hi,

Is this the correct technique?

Or should I be drilling from the front?

Thanks in advance.

If the holes are premarked on the back then yes drill from the back , making sure you use the offcut like the video says

As above, if they are pre-marked drill from the inside. However! what I do is to drill from the back with a small pilot drill e.g. if required hole is 5.5mm I drill from the back with a 2mm drill then carefully go from the front with the required size and a scrap block.
Just my way of doing it but the video method is just as good. The secret is to not go plunging straight through, take it steady to prevent any possible bursting.

I almost always drill from the front, generally with a block clamped to the back of the door to minimise spelch. This is because I set out my handles from the front (most times with the aid of a home made drilling jig) and I prefer any spelch to be out of sight where if needs be it can be disguised (although with the correct type of drill bit - a brad point twist drill - and a block clamped firmly to the rear of the door on the exit side of the door spelch shouldn't really be an issue). On doors with a curved front surfsce, such as saponetta style doors itcsn be difficult to drill from the front inless your jig is big enough to take the curve of the door out
