kitchen downlights failed

We have 6 recessed downlights in our kitchen. Not sure what voltage, but they were recently installed during some refurbishment. They are operated by 2 switches, one is a dimmer. Recently they began to brighten & dim and then finally went out. None of the circuits tripped. But around the same time I noticed that the extractor fan for the adjacent downstairs toilet doesn't work. I haven't started changing bulbs yet 'cos I assumed it so unlikely they'd all fail at same time. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Loose connection somewhere on the lighting circuit. Trace the wiring back along the line. Lights are done as a radial so it sounds like the kitchen and downstairs bog are last on the circuit. Look in the downstairs bog light fitting, i'd suspect this first.
