I am fitting anew kitchen, the extractor vent is currently about 30cm from wear the new extractor unit will sit, is it possible to re route the extracted air through the existing vent or will i have to make a new hole?
You don't say what sort of extractor you have. You can add ductwork to cooker hoods and chimneys easily. (Not so with wall mounted extractor fans) For the neatest installation though, I would fill in the old hole and make a new one.
You can hire a SDS drill with a core bit of the correct diameter for the extractor and drill it in one go.
Otherwise mark the hole on wall and drill a series of small holes then chisel out. You will have to do this from both sides of the wall though, so you will need to measure carefully.
The hole should slope downwards slightly towards the outside so that any rain or condensation getting into the duct runs outside and not into the house.
