Hello I recently done an extension on my ground floor flat. My neighbour on the first floor has indicated the position of the extractor fume is causing her to smell food when she opens her balcony. Is there anything can be done such as a pipe extender to reduce smells

Can you not add charcoal filters to your extractor hood

You can use a duct on your extractor hood. Older ones use 100mm diameter but modern hoods are more powerful and use 125mm or 150mm

You appear to be using an airbrick vent, which is unusual, and it appears to be at a level higher than your roof, which is also unusual if you are in a flat as the wall probably belongs to the upstairs neighbour.

Post a sketch plan of your kitchen showing the external walls.

Extractor ducts can often be run out of sight above, or inside, the tops of wall cabinets. Unless you are 2400mm tall you will not be able to reach inside these cabinets so it is no inconvenience.
