kitchen extractor fan

Can anyone advise what if any building regs apply to venting extraction fans in kitchens ? My next door has fitted one about 10 inches from my window on our semi and fills my house with cooking smells if I leave the window open.

like it or not all new build projects involving kitchens, bathrooms utility rooms etc have to be fitted or retro fitted with mechanical extractors.

Age of building has no bearing on the issue. I don't think there is any regulation about siting of extractor vents with respect to neighbours.
