Kitchen was originally a kitchen end with vinyl floor and a dining end with laminate with a breakfast bar in the middle. Long story.. but we had a new kitchen and had new vinyl floor in that half of the room. The other end had a built in fridge and freezer unit installed but ON TOP of the laminate. Now I am wanting to update the floor so it is the same all though. Ideally a nice grey wood laminate type thing. However we have two different levels! The fridge and freezer are integrated units on top of the floor so not easily moved. I thought of maybe sliding the old floor out from under the units and cutting around the legs that hold up the fridge and freezer? But if the new floor isn't the same depth then there will be a gap?

If you got the laminate up, would the levels be the same. You can take the plinth off, screw up the legs on one side, and then get the laminate out, then screw down the legs, and keep moving along - being careful on the last legs of course. When you lay the new laminate, you can fit the laminate planks up to the legs, and if you're lucky, the plinths will fit back in without requiring any adjustments.

Get the laminate out first, and then come back with some pictures.
