is it ok to change my kitchen light switch to a 2 gang so that the lights under the kitchen wall units can also be switched from there separately

question looks familier.
you can change it but you will need a third wire, or fourth with the earth so you have a switch wire to feed the new lights, then you are left with picking up a neutral from the existing light.
Best option is usualy a fused spur of the kitchen ring.

Forgot to ask are the under unit lights swiched from the wall switch now?

i was gonna nick a feed from the main kitchen light but switch it separately, i didnt know whether it had to be fused???

if you pick up the feed from the existing lights i would say there is no need to fuse.
