The sink is leaking I think the seal in the drain is damaged I am trying to unscrew the brass locknut under the strainer but it just turns and turns and will not unscrew tried turning it both ways but will not come out,Im holding the plastic strainer underneath the sink and tried turning that but nothing .Its a stainless steel sink can anyone one suggest anything .I thought of using a blowtorch and burning the plastic off underneath the sink but it could get a bit messy

Hi I cant see anything under the post reply icon but i have added 2 pics to my albums if that helps

that;s the brass locknut that just turns and the white bit that im holding while trying to unscrew the locknut

You'll need to cut off the waste from below. You can do this using a multitool or heat a screwdriver/chisel and melt through the waste.

You need a large slotted screwdriver or a coin held with pliers in the slot in the sink grille and then turn the plastic base to unscrew it, or hold the base and turn the slotted screw.
A spot of WD40 might help too.

PS to add to post copy diy BB code and paste in post

If all else fails I would avoid using a blow lamp as the synthetic rubber seal may give off toxic substances if burnt.

Thanks everyone who replied I have got it sorted now .I cut the drain of using secetures after I cut it off I went to the shop to get a new one saying to my wife don't use the sink. When I returned home the kitchen was flooded she had used the dishwasher! :(
