Kitchen sink in unit with no back - how to stop water splash

Hi,

I'm renovating a flat and planning the kitchen - at present the best place for the sink is in the worktop that protrudes into the room with no partition behind it. What is the best way to stop water splashing back onto the carpet behind the sink area ?
